Hottie Crew Member of the Week - Going for the Gold!
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that the summer Olympic games started this weekend in Beijing. I hope everyone caught the opening ceremonies because they were amazing. I admit Gummer Marnee wasn’t very happy that we made her hold that satellite dish all night, but it’s not like we can get cable here on the ship.
Anyway, what better time than now to honor our Olympic athletes? And what better athlete to honor out here surrounded by all this water than the US Olympic swim team? I think I speak for everyone when I say, let the games begin.
Everyone knows I’m not typically interested in lanky, but I’ve been making a lot of exceptions lately. And Mr. Phelps here presents plenty of reasons to make an exception.

Big happenings on the ship this week. BIG BIG TADOINGS! This Tuesday, August 12, the RWR is excited to welcome New York Times Bestselling author, Teresa Medeiros! Teresa’s latest release, Some Like It Wicked, hit store shelves at the end of July and we’re so excited to have her with us to talk all about it. And since she was silly….errr…..brave enough to agree to an interview with Captain Jack, there’s no telling what else we’ll be talking about. So mark your calendar now and join us Tuesday for all the fun.
Now, everyone watching the Olympics? Did you see the opening ceremonies? Wasn’t that amazing?! Oh, and anyone interested in swimming lessons should sign up now. But don’t be throwing elbows to cut in line!

Oooh, nice swimsuit. Love those Olympic rings peeking over the top but I think we should see the entire tatt, don’t you agree?
Hey, does this mean I’m first in line for those lessons? (rubbing my hands in glee)

I’m reading SLIW right now and enjoying it enormously. Have I ever told you I had to pass a swimming test to graduate from college? And that my date for the senior ball at the Waldorf Astoria was captain of my college swim team? He was sooo adorable, but I had just gotten dis-engaged and he had broken up with his long-time girlfriend so there was no splashing around at all.

I’m just now catching up on the past week’s blogs. Marnee, congrats on finaling in the NJ contest! That’s awesome!
Maggie, I had to pass the swim test too. Must have been something going around in the 70’s. There were no cute swimmers for me. My college boyfriend was a hard-bodied, multi-scarred, Canadian hockey player. No complaints here. (grin)

Hey there, PJ! Lovely to see you here. And I forgot to mention that I’ve NEVER learned to swim, so that would put you second in line. LOL! The sad thing is, I’m not making that up. And yes, we’ve had some great authors on our decks and more to come. That’s the great thing about Romance, there’s an endless supply of talented, generous authors to invite over. And I vote for seeing the entire tat too!
Marn - Isn’t he yummy? I need to look up the schedule and see when the swimming stuff is on. Hope I haven’t missed it already.
Maggie - I hope you write your memoirs someday. And include pictures.

It’s called Toronto propane depot explosion if the link doesn’t go through.
No didn’t hear it, there were thunderstorms last night… It’s about 10 or so Kilometers away.

Used to watch the Olympics religiously. Then went to watching the opening & closing ceremonies. Now, I catch tidbits on the news. Dang, when did I get so disinterested?
Happy to report I finally landed a job. I do orientation tomorrow & Wednesday. And they gave me more than I was figuring I’d get. That’s strange. Very nice, but strange.

Those opening ceremonies were breathtaking. So much so, you didn’t mind the countries marching in no particular order, lol!
I’m not a long and lanky fan either but if it means that tatt is located just in that spot than I can adjust my tastes for the good of the cause! (and I agree with PJ - we should see the whole thing)

Tiff - I looked up the story and talk about NOT the way you want to be woken up. Last I saw, people were very lucky in there were no fatalities though one person was unaccounted for. Scary.
DJS - Congratulations on the job! And celebrate the strange. Whoohoo! Keep us posted on how it goes. Oh, and watch some Olympics, fight the disinterest. LOL!

Santa - I kept trying to make sense out of the order and never did figure it out. Was that the Chinese alphabet or something? LOL!
And you’re such a giver. Good of us to make exceptions for the cause, right? LOL!
August 10th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
They kept on saying the Chinese have no alphabet or at least not one in any particular order - so we all stayed up for the United States, Italy and Ireland. Had to give props to our peeps - at least that’s what my eldest keeps saying - props for peeps is a good thing.

That must make lining kids up in school very difficult. And I stayed up for the US team, but can’t remember if I saw the Irish or the Italians. I know I saw the Spanish. I couldn’t get over that some of those teams only had 3 to 5 athletes participating.
